We are approaching the most woooonderful tiime of the yeeeear. That is, if you are below the equator and can still feel the warmth of the sun - or if you make a living selling giftable items. For most of us, it’s just the time to get the spins scrolling through infinite feeds of distractions.
Most brands have anticipated their sales, so who am I to hold back? Here are the things I recommend you get on Black Friday.
CASH. Set up your Depop or Poshmark account and resell the stuff you don’t like to wear anymore. Too lazy? Try ThredUp instead. You do not want your clothes to end up here:
Learn to mend with Molly Martin’s amazing book (DM and I’ll lend it to you). It is filled with beautiful poetry and illustration about the art of taking care of our puppy shirts and dresses and sweaters.
Invest in the quality of sleep of your loved one, your partner in daily stalking, your apple pay bandit: your phone. Every night, I sing nana nenê and swaddle my buddy to sleep in this adorable phone bed, made from repurposed fabrics. Don’t underestimate the power of this on your mental health. You can make a sleeping bag out of old underwear or PJs. Which leads us to…
Get a battery alarm clock. Your phone (and you) deserves to be woken up properly, with love and kisses, not answering slack messages. If you, like me, were born in the last century, you probably still have one lying around your parent’s house somewhere.
Even if you ignored everything else, please still purchase this last one: the Preemptive Unsubscribe. Everyone has their own “I know I can’t buy this, but I will sign up anyways” list, waiting for a Black Friday to come up, to voice our hopes. Mine are Surya Spa, Butterfield and Robinson, and even Amex because they have the cutest rose gold card that for an arm and a leg will give me enough miles to fly the world in business class. Save yourself the stress and just hit that tiny tiny button at the bottom of your emails.
Wishing y’all a great week, it’s time to wake up my baby.
Shavua tov,
Gabi

And as for the unsubscribe... will search out those buttons now like a hawk! The happiest moment of my email day.... UNSUSCRIBE.... will set up to do at least ONE a day...ONE a Day keeps the stress pills away....
