I recently wrote on Peo Vee about my grandmother Alaide, but I never got the chance to share her story with the rest of you. She is one of the people I love the most in this world and I can’t believe there were so many things I did not know about her until I wrote this piece.

Take the opportunity to speak with people who are wiser than you and ask them about how life used to be. Consider the simple things, like how kitchens functioned without refrigerators. In Brazil, it was common for people to smear Coca-Cola on their bodies at the beach to achieve the perfect tan. My dad did this, and while he did get that perfect tan, he also faced the eventual carcinoma.
Gosh, I love the wisdom and stupidities of the past.
